Wedgwood Rare Creamware Tureen 1830-1840

Go Back

a rare wedgwood tureen with a liner and lid .this shape is a very rare form from wedgwood.i have had in the past 25 years only 4 examples of this tureen ,and each time without a liner .i was alway told by numerous wedgwood dealers and collectors that it was made without a liner .this one has a liner .its a very deep liner ..so its a mystery what it was for ,as there really is no room for ice ..top or bottom .so maybe it was hot water at the base to keep whatever warm.it measures 9 inches high x 11 inches x 7.5 inches wide .the gilding is excellent .
